Diwali is also called as Deepavali  in India. Diwali is the biggest hindu festival which is now become a festival for all the religions. Not only hindus but muslims, sikhs and others are also celebrating it with great joy. People call Diwali a Festival of Lights Why? Let us know deep = light & avail = raw means a raw of lights becomes Festivals of Lights. It is a five day celebrations with Dhanteras, Kali Chaudash, Diwali, New Year and Bhai Dooj. It’s a  long festival with all kind of blessing for all the people around the India and World.

History of Diwali:

There is history behind Diwali festival which can be traced back to ancient India. It gives us the knowledge about Importance of Diwali. There are lots of legends who are pointing to the origin of Deepavali. As per Hindus Its about a story of Lord Rama and Sita. Lord Rama came to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile with end of demon Ravana in Lanka. In Ayodhya people welcomed Lord Rama with Lighting raws and clay lamps. So, it become a honour of Rama’s victory over evil. Few believes that the celebration is of the marriage of Lord Vishnu & Lakshmiji. In Bengal people celebrate Diwali by worshiping Maa Kali, The goddess of strength. Jains worship Lord Mahavir while Hindus doing pooja of Lord Ganesha and Maa Lakshmi.

Celebration for 5 Days:

Diwali celebrations are being held for 5 days. First day is a Dhanteras. On this day people do pooja of Lord Ganesha and Maa Lakshmi. People do shopping on this day which brings them wealth like Gold. Second day is a Kali Chaudash which also known as Naraka Chaturadi. Which marks defeating of Naraka by Lord Krishna. The third day is a Amavasya which called Deepavali. On this day people worship Lakshmi, goddess of wealth. People believe that by worshiping Lakshmi they will get good wealth for the next year. The fourth day is a New Year for Hindu (as per Hindu Calendar). The fifth day is a Bhai Dooj. Brother goes to sister houses and celebrates it with great joy.

The festival is become more and more popular as the days pass. The main reason to celebrate Diwali is because it gives us an message that Truth always win and Evil always lose.
